Stay away from peppermints

If you have acid reflux or GERD you should not be eating peppermints because it relaxes and weakens the lower esophageal sphincter (LES). This will result in food and liquid being allowed to come back up.

Again a reminder that foods and beverages that can irritate an already damaged esophageal lining, such as citrus fruits and juices, tomato products, and pepper, should also be avoided.

I knew about all of these but pepper! I don't think we use enough of that to hurt, though, but it's good to know, just in case. Thanks for all the helpful information.
